About Denturism

Denturists are dental health professionals who specialize in the field of removable oral prosthesis (dentures). The Denturist Technology Program prepares denturists with the theoretical, technical and clinical experiences required to assess, design, fabricate and insert complete, partial or any kind of removable prosthesis and to provide effective communication with patients regarding treatment options and care. An extensive clinical practicum is included as part of the program.

Services Provided by Your Denturist

Denturists are classified as health-care providers. They provide services that improve the health and well-being of their patients. There are many services that a Denturist provides. Among them are:

Examinations and Consultations

During your examination, your Denturist will check your soft tissues, hard tissues, and surrounding oral cavity.
It is important for your Denturist to have your complete medical and dental history to properly assess your needs and provide you with suitable treatment options.

Complete Upper and Lower Dentures

Complete denture to replace all missing teeth on either your upper or lower arch.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are necessary when one or more of your natural teeth are missing in the upper or lower arch. Not only does a partial denture fill in the spaces created by missing teeth, it helps to prevent other teeth from shifting.

Prosthesis Over Implant

Dental implants are an alternative to traditional dentures for some clients. An implant acts like a root of a tooth and provides a solid foundation for the placement of dentures over implants.
Implants can be placed to support a single artificial tooth, partial dentures and complete dentures. Receiving dental implants involves a simple surgical procedure.

Dental implants are becoming a popular choice for denture wearers. However, not everyone is a candidate for implants. Consult your Manitoba Denturist for advice.

Repairing, Relining, and Rebasing Existing Dentures

Servicing your existing dentures.

Mouth guards

It is estimated that millions of teeth are lost each year in North America due to sports injuries.  Many sports leagues regulate that mouth guards must be worn during play.

Athletic mouth guards delivered by your Denturist are custom made to maximize protection. They provide protection to the lips, teeth and cheeks and can also reduce the forces that contribute to concussions and jaw fractures.

Night Guards

A custom fit night guard is worn on the upper or lower teeth decreasing the grinding of the teeth and clenching of the jaw, preventing chipped and/or broken teeth. The wearing of night guard will help in the reduction of TMD problems.

Anti-Snoring Devices

Anti-snoring devices, worn when sleeping, are to be used by patients who have been diagnosed having snoring problems or apnea.

Bleaching Trays

Bleaching trays are removable thin personalized teeth whiting trays used by patients who would like to whiten their teeth. By placing a small amount of whitening gel in the tray and inserting the tray in to their mouth for specified period of time the teeth will become whitened. The manufacturers of the gel provide a guide to the length of time the gel is to remain in the mouth.

Billing and Insurance

For the convenience of our patients many Denturists offer direct billing to private insurance companies such as Great West Life, Blue Cross, Manulife, Sunlife, etc. Some clinics will also accept public dental plans such as Veterans Affairs, Family Services and NIHB.
